Canada is a country in North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres, making it the world\’s second-largest country by total area. Ottawa is Canada\’s capital.
Canada is famous for maple syrup and maple syrup products. The sugar maple\’s leaf is a symbol of Canada, and is depicted on the country\’s flag. Canada makes about 80 percent of the world\’s maple syrup and the majority comes from the region of Quebec. Canada is famous for the gorgeous scenery and uninhabited land. The views of the untouched and natural environment are breathtaking and composed of beautiful lakes and rivers. There are three oceans, mountains, plains, and some of the most attractive cities in the world, like Toronto. What is Canada\’s nickname? Although it is unknown who coined the term Great White North in reference to Canada, the nickname has been in use for many decades. The general breakdown is that Canada is “Great” because it\’s the second largest country in the world.

Toronto– Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario, is a major Canadian city along Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore. It\’s a dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic, free-standing CN Tower. Toronto also has many green spaces, from the orderly oval of Queen’s Park to 400-acre High Park and its trails, sports facilities and zoo. Toronto is known for its many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, the CN Tower. Not only has Toronto been ranked as the fourth most liveable city in the world, based on factors such as healthcare, education, culture, and environment, it\’s also a city of arts, culture and excitement with something for everyone. Toronto is heaven for foodies.
Montreal– Montréal is the largest city in Canada\’s Québec province. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighbourhoods ranging from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica at its centre – to bohemian Plateau. Montreal is best known for being French and it is the largest French-speaking city in Canada and North America. Montreal is also the 4th largest french speaking city in the world. Montreal is home to the famous Cirque de Soleil and hosted the Summer Olympics in 1976. Montrealalso played host to Expo 67, considered to be the most successful world\’s fair in the 20th Century.
Vancouver– Vancouver, a bustling west coast seaport in British Columbia, is among Canada’s densest, most ethnically diverse cities. A popular filming location, it’s surrounded by mountains, and also has thriving art, theatre and music scenes. Vancouver Art Gallery is known for its works by regional artists, while the Museum of Anthropology houses preeminent First Nations collections. Because of its proximity to both mountains and ocean, Vancouver is famous for offering every kind of outdoor sport and adventure, from skiing and snow sports in the winter to kayaking and water sports in the summer, and hiking, camping, and biking year-round. Also fishing, scenic golf courses, and mountain ziplining!
Quebec City– Québec City sits on the Saint Lawrence River in Canada\’s mostly French-speaking Québec province. Dating to 1608, it has a fortified colonial core, Vieux-Québec and Place Royale, with stone buildings and narrow streets. This area is the site of the towering Château Frontenac Hotel and imposing Citadelle of Québec. The Petit Champlain district’s cobblestone streets are lined with bistros and boutiques. The only fortified city north of Mexico and the birthplace of French Canada, the Historic District of Old Québec was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1985. Known for the world-famous Château Frontenac, Québec City is also known for its rich history, cobblestone streets, European architecture and fortifications.
Ottawa– Ottawa is Canada’s capital, in the east of southern Ontario, near the city of Montréal and the U.S. border. Sitting on the Ottawa River, it has at its centre Parliament Hill, with grand Victorian architecture and museums such as the National Gallery of Canada, with noted collections of indigenous and other Canadian art. The park-lined Rideau Canal is filled with boats in summer and ice-skaters in winter. Ottawa is known for its international music festivals, its record-breaking ice skating rink, and its beautiful nature. Ottawa is also known for its bilingual character, its politeness, its internationally influenced cuisine, and a hunger for beaver tails.
Calgary– Calgary, a cosmopolitan Alberta city with numerous skyscrapers, owes its rapid growth to its status as the centre of Canada’s oil industry. Calgarians enjoy more days of sunshine than any other major Canadian city – 333 days per year in fact! Calgary is home to more than 1.4 million people. Calgary is the third most diverse major city in Canada with more than 120 languages spoken in the city. Calgary is 848 square kilometres in size, or 327 square miles. It is the financial centre of western Canada, based on its key role in the development of the region\’s oil and gas industry. With its panoramic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and its historic association with cattle ranching and oil exploration, Calgary is one of Canada\’smost identifiable cities.
