The Benefits of Coffee
I am someone who can’t live without coffee, for me coffee is life. Coffee makes me happy and gives me the energies that I need. Also, I do love to collect coffee mugs, so that’s an excuse to drink more coffee. That’s why in this post I will share with you the 5 benefits of coffee or caffeine.
- Can Improve Energy Levels– Caffeine is a familiar drug that stimulates the nervous system. When it enters the body, caffeine raises the heart rate and blood pressure, increasing energy levels and improving the mood. Caffeine acts quickly, and many people notice the effects within minutes. Because caffeine acts as a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant, people usually take it to feel more alert and energetic. Caffeine can improve mood and help people feel more productive. It is believed to work by blocking the neurotransmitter adenosine’s receptors, increasing excitability in the brain.
- Contains Essential Nutrients– Coffee contains a number of useful nutrients, including riboflavin (vitamin B-2), niacin (vitamin B-3), magnesium, potassium, and various phenolic compounds, or antioxidants. Some experts suggest that these and other ingredients in coffee can benefit the human body in various ways.
- Coffee Protects Our DNA– A recent study discovered that coffee protects our DNA, the thin stretches of genetic material packed into virtually every cell in the body. In the trial, published in late 2018, coffee reduced DNA damage by a significant 23%.
- Caffeine can reduce the incidence of depression– Scientific studies into the relationship between caffeine and depression have often shown that caffeine can reduce the incidence of depression. Some studies even suggest that caffeine intake could reduce the incidence of suicide. The study concluded that caffeine, particularly when present in coffee, had a protective effect against depression. The study also revealed that tea was less protective than coffee but still effective in reducing depression risk to some extent.
- Can Help You To Improve Your Metabolism– In the short term, caffeine can boost the metabolic rate and increase fat burning, but after a while people become tolerant to the effects and it stops working. But even if coffee doesn’t make you expend more calories in the long term, there is still a possibility that it blunts appetite and helps you eat less.
