Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, is known for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. Lake Bohinj– Lake Bohinj, covering 318 hectares, is the largest permanent lake in Slovenia. It is located within the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps, in the northwestern Upper Carniola region, and part of Triglav National Park. It takes anywhere between 3-5 hours, depending how much time you take to admire the views. Circumnavigating Lake Bohinj is a 12 km (7,5 miles) walk.

Postojna Cave– Postojna Cave is a 24,120 m long karst cave system near Postojna, southwestern Slovenia. It is the second-longest cave system in the country as well as one of its top tourism sites. The caves were created by the Pivka River. Postojna Cave is the only place where you can see the most precious brilliant in the form of a cave formation and also meet the baby dragons. Just like the world above the surface, Postojna Cave boasts towering mountains, murmuring rivers and vast subterranean halls.
Triglav– Triglav, with an elevation of 2,863.65 metres, is the highest mountain in Slovenia and the highest peak of the Julian Alps. The mountain is the pre-eminent symbol of the Slovene nation. It is the centrepiece of Triglav National Park, Slovenia’s only national park. Triglav was also the highest peak in Yugoslavia before Slovenia’s independence in 1991.
Predjama Castle– Predjama Castle is a Renaissance castle built within a cave mouth in south-central Slovenia, in the historical region of Inner Carniola. It is located in the village of Predjama, approximately 11 kilometres from the town of Postojna and 9 kilometres from Postojna Cave. Predjama Castle is also known as the largest cave castle in the world. It is hard to tell where the castle ends and the karst cave begins. When entering the castle you are also entering the cave; In some parts of the castle the rock is also a wall.
Ljubljana Castle– Ljubljana Castle is a castle complex standing on Castle Hill above downtown Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is a key landmark of the town. Originally a medieval fortress, it was probably constructed in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 12th century. It acquired its present outline with an almost complete overhaul in the 15th century, whereas the majority of the buildings date to the 16th and 17th centuries. Initially a defense structure and since the first half of the 14th century the seat of the lords of Carniola, it was since the early 19th century used for various other purposes and today is used as a major cultural venue. The castle is depicted on the city’s coat of arms, along with a dragon on top.

Soteska Vintgar– The Vintgar Gorge or Bled Gorge is a 1.6-kilometer gorge in northwestern Slovenia in the municipalities of Gorje and Bled, four kilometers northwest of Bled. Carved by the Radovna River, it is the continuation of the Radovna Valley. The sheer canyon walls are 50 to 100 meters high, with a total slope measuring about 250 m. The stream has created many erosive features such as pools and rapids, and terminates in the picturesque 13 m Šum Falls, the largest river waterfall in Slovenia. Also known as Soteska Vintgar and Bled Gorge (Blejski Vintgar,) it’s Slovenia’s first mountain gorge opened to the public. The gorge impressively carves its way through the high rock formations of Hom and Boršt hills as wild yet beautiful Radovna River flows through it.

Vršič Pass– The Vršič Pass, with an elevation of 1,611 metres, is a high mountain pass across the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia. It is the highest pass in Slovenia, as well as the highest in the Eastern Julian Alps. It connects Upper Carniola with the Trenta Valley in the Slovene Littoral. The road across the pass, now known as Russian Road, was originally built for military purposes in the early 19th century and followed an earlier trade route. The Vršič Pass is considered an excellent starting point for excursions to surrounding peaks.
Central Market– The Ljubljana Central Market is a market in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The riverside market building, sometimes referred to as Plečnik’s Market, was designed by Jože Plečnik between 1931 and 1939. It stretches between the Triple Bridge and the Dragon Bridge, on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River. The marketplace and Vodnik Square, where it is located, are cultural monuments of national significance. It is partly located at Adamič and Lunder Embankment and at Pogačar Square.
