Antartica (Continent)- Antarctica, the southernmost continent and site of the South Pole, is a virtually uninhabited, ice-covered landmass. Most cruises to the continent visit the Antarctic Peninsula, which stretches toward South America. It’s known for the Lemaire Channel and Paradise Harbor, striking, iceberg-flanked passageways, and Port Lockroy, a former British research station turned museum. The peninsula’s isolated terrain also shelters rich wildlife, including many penguins. Antarctica is losing more than 100 billion tons of ice a year as glaciers flow into the sea and large icebergs calve off their fronts. However, Antarctica also receives billions of tons of snowfall every year. This fresh snow eventually gets buried and compacted into new ice, helping offset ocean-driven losses.

Japan– According to National Geographic, Japan is the World’ snowiest places. Japan, has seen more snowfall than most other places on Earth. Tateyama (Mount Tate) is one of Japan’s three holy mountains, located on the west side of the country near the Sea of Japan. It is the snowiest place in Japan and probably one of the snowiest places on Earth.

Russia– Every part of Russia gets to experience snow during winter. In general, the climate of Russia can be described as highly continental influenced climate with warm to hot dry summers and (very) cold winters with temperatures of -30°C and lower and sometimes heavy snowfall. The winter is mostly dry, snow covers the ground from end october to mid march in some years.

Iceland– December and January typically experience the most snowfall, with an average 1-inch accumulation, though sometimes up to two inches or more during these periods. The weather in Iceland is notoriously fickle and you never know how much snow to expect. In Iceland, the climate is cold, windy and cloudy for most of the year. Of course, it’s a cold country because of the high latitude, and it can receive cold winds from the North Pole, but it’s also tempered by the ocean.

Sweden– Snow covers the ground in southern Sweden from December to April, and in northern Sweden the first snowfall is often already in October. Most of the country is icebound in winter, but special icebreaking boats keep the major ports open. Northern Sweden almost whole year is covered by snow and have very very low population density. Southern part of it is a well developed nation and have better population density. Still in winters temperature of whole nation may drop below -8 degrees and even lower to it. Snow doesn’t fall in whole the winter.

Argentina– Snowfall occurs mainly in the west and south, which can result in strong snowstorms. Patagonia’s temperatures are relatively cold for its latitude due to the cold Malvinas Current (also called the Falkland(s) Current) and the high altitude. Ushuaia experiences snowfall for 14 days and aggregates up to 6.5 inches (165 millimeters) of snow. Bariloche on the other hand sees the highest snowfall throughout the year with 16.4 inches of snow being recorded.
