Top 3 National Parks To Visit This Fall 2023

Hello everyone! I know most of you loves fall (autumn) and sometimes deciding where to go to see the beautfiul colors of this season could be a bit challenging but that’s why this post is for you. I’m going to share with you “Top 3 National Parks To Visit This Fall” in the United States, plus the best months to visit them to not lose the opportunity of seeing and appreciating the beautiful colors of my favorite season of the year.

Acadia National Park, Maine

Acadia National Park is a 47,000-acre Atlantic coast recreation area primarily on Maine’s Mount Desert Island. Its landscape is marked by woodland, rocky beaches and glacier-scoured granite peaks such as Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the United States’ East Coast. Among the wildlife are moose, bear, whales and seabirds. The bayside town of Bar Harbor, with restaurants and shops, is a popular gateway. When is best to visit Acadia? September and October are the best months of the year to enjoy what makes Acadia so special. You will benefit from the best colors, comfortable hiking conditions and fewer crowds.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado spans the Continental Divide and encompasses protected mountains, forests and alpine tundra. It’s known for the Trail Ridge Road and the Old Fall River Road, drives that pass aspen trees and rivers. The Keyhole Route, a climb crossing vertical rock faces, leads up Longs Peak, the park’s tallest mountain. A trail surrounding Bear Lake offers views of the peaks. Why visit Rocky Mountains in fall? Late September and early October is a magical time to visit Rocky Mountain National Park. Take a scenic drive on Trail Ridge Road and Bear Lake Road and enjoy the colorful transition of the aspen leaves as they change from green to gold, orange, and red.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Great Smoky Mountains National Park straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. The sprawling landscape encompasses lush forests and an abundance of wildflowers that bloom year-round. Streams, rivers and waterfalls appear along hiking routes that include a segment of the Appalachian Trail. An observation tower tops Clingmans Dome, the highest peak, offering scenic views of the mist-covered mountains. Why visit Great Smoky Mountains in fall? Autumn is both a beautiful and a busy time in the Great Smoky Mountains. The annual show of fall colors attracts huge numbers of sightseers, especially during the last three weeks of October. Areas in the park which experience the longest traffic delays are Cades Cove and Newfound Gap Road (U.S. 441).
